Europe

Alicante

Europe offers many great breaks at a fraction of the cost of that of America for UK travelers, with a far more diverse wealth of culture and history to enjoy. Alicante is one such place that offers many small local shops that stock well made products produced in the region; This includes wines, leather goods and a lot more. These shops are hidden away in the older parts of town, so you'll have to explore a little but its all thankfully a short walk from the more modern shopping areas that provide all the latest brands of fashion.

If your just looking to relax, then you are spoilt for choice.. The all year round good weather means that you will enjoy your time out and about, whether it be a day, or night out.

Alicante offers a couple of fine parks to enjoy for those looking for solitude and fun. The first is the parkland on the outlying areas of Alicante which offer huge amounts of space to enjoy some time by yourself out of the bustle of the city and it is also a great a place to get a tan if the beach isn't your thing. The park you should visit for fun though has to be the local Tosgal Mountain theme park, with the usual host of roller coaster and log splash antics.

Faro

Faro is situated on the Mediterranean Sea and is widely regarded as the gateway to the Algarve. This tranquil part of the world is often overlooked by those traveling to other parts of the Costa del Sol but by no means should be overshadowed by the more frequented coastline towns.

With even the Winter days hitting 20c this is another great destination for any time of year. Its Ria Formosa Lagoon plays centre piece to a nature reserve that makes a truly secluded spot to give you some time to relax, think or read a book. Bird lovers can also take advantage of the local wildlife with this being a popular spot to sight migrating birds.

Faro is more famous for its museums however then its nightlife so if your looking for a more action packed night out you should investigate some of the resort towns that can be driven to by rental car in less then half an hour.

Palma

With strong ties to Roman history, Palma has a lot of grand architecture and is worth visiting purely to see the old Roman quarter as well as the Seo Cathedral that is as hard to miss from the air as it is from the ground. With many wealthy residents and visitors alike it can be a common misconception that this Majorcan city is not cheap, but it is quite the opposite. It has a great balance of shops to suit all budgets and offers a great diversity of both top brands and local produce.

Night life has to be one of the main draws of Palma and the area has bars and clubs for every style and every mood. With places to relax and watch the world go by, to night clubs to let yourself go and dance the night away. Those feeling lucky can try out one of the handful of casinos Palma has to offer.

If your looking for beaches however, be prepared to travel, as the bay around Palma has no beaches within city limits although there is plenty of transport available during the day. Renting a car is also great way to get about.
